Florida Forever Campaign
The Florida Forever Act was established by the state of Florida as the largest public land buying initiative in the nation. Florida Forever was established to conserve environmentally sensitive land and wildlife habitat, protect and restore water resources, provide parks for people, and preserve cultural and historical sites in our state.
More than 2 million acres of Florida’s best and most ecologically functional lands have been preserved from Preservation 2000 and Florida Forever. The conservation programs have allowed the sate to use non-regulatory approach to protect special places critical to our environment. The linkage of growth and development to the preservation of Florida’s remarkable natural areas ensures that as the state develops and becomes more urban, that our natural treasures are not lost.
